SOUL TRAIN MUSIC AWARDS
The Soul Train Music Awards is an award show which honors the best people in black entertainment and music. The awards are produced by the makers of Soul Train, and they have various perfomances from different hip hip, and R&B singers throughtout the ceremony. The awards voting body includes professionals in radio, music retail, management, and recording artists that have charted the music trade publications in the year prior to the awards. Previous hosts for the award show include people such as Will Smith, Patti LaBelle,Gladys Knight, Vanessa Williams, and Luther Vandross.
When the Soul Train Awards were introduced to the world, the trophy had an African ceremonial mask on it and it still does til this day. Janet Jackson holds the record for the most awards won, followed by singer Whitney Houston, and Janet's brother Michael Jackson.The 2009 ceremony was held at the Georgia World Congress Center. This was the first time the Soul Train Awards were held outside of the Los Angeles area.
