Soul Train now comes on televison onn a network called Centric. Centric was launched in September 21, 1996. Centric was formerly called BET on Jazz, which was a spin-off the channel to BET. In 2002, it was renamed BET Jazz. On March 1, 2006, the network was renamed again as BET J and focused on general interest programs rather than just strictly pure jazz. To a lesser extent, BET J also focused on electronica, and alternative rock.

On April 24, 2009, BET announced it would rename BET J as Centric, which would be programmed as a general adult African-American network which would compete with TVOne and leave BET to target younger viewers. The renaming was completed on September 28, 2009.As of 2010, Centric now airs its own original series' such as Keeping Up With The Joneses, Leading Women/Men, Model City, Lyric Cafe, Urban Livin', Soul Sessions, Retro Centric, and Centric Hits.
